The founders of Behavioral Health Innovations pioneered modern scientific approaches to the evaluation of traumatized and bereaved children, and promoted the use of evidence-based assessments to transform services and treatment outcomes.
ALAN STEINBERG, PH.D.
Chief Science Officer/Co-Founder
Dr. Steinberg is Chief Science Officer of BHI and Associate Director of the UCLA/Duke University National Center for Child Traumatic Stress in the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at UCLA. He is a recognized authority in the evaluation of children and adolescents exposed to traumatic stress. He has published over 120 theoretical and empirical articles in the most highly prestigious psychiatric journals and books. He is co-creator of the UCLA PTSD Reaction Index for DSM-5 and oversees evaluation of the measure’s psychometric properties and testing of the measure among a wide range of trauma exposed populations.

Chief Medical Officer/Co-Founder
Dr. Pynoos is Chief Medical Officer of BHI and Co-Director of the UCLA/Duke University National Center for Child Traumatic Stress in the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at UCLA. He is a world renowned authority in the field of child and adolescent traumatic stress. He pioneered the use of developmentally-informed quantitative and qualitative measures of traumatized children and their families for clinical care, research, and public health planning. He is responsible for assuring the developmental appropriateness, clinical utility, and diagnostic precision of all BHI measures.
